Persons or organizations desiring to use this material, must obtain the written consent of the contributor, or the legal representative of the submitter, and contact the listed USGenWeb archivist with proof of this consent. ************************************************************************ Henry Field Sr. Deed of Gift to grandchildren Allen, Foushee, and Field (2) 1790 Culpeper Co., VA DB:Q: pgs. 301-302 To all People to whom these presents come I Henry Field of the County of Culpeper, State of Virginia do send greeting, Know ye that I the said Henry Field for and in Consideration, of the natural Love & affection which I have and do Bear to my grandson John Allen of Fauquire County and State aforesaid, whom I raised from his Infancy, do by these presents for the aforesaid Consideration give the said John Allen, to wit, Jack a negro fellow and Sarah his wife with their three Children by the names of George, Jane & Milly, them and their increase to him his Heirs & assigns forever. It is to be hereby understood that the negro fellow Jack is given the said John Allen in Lieu of a negro girl by the name of Rose, which negro girl I had some time ago given the said John Allen, but as Jack had since taken to wife the aforesaid Sarah, I for the Conveniency of their living Together, that is the aforesaid Jack & Sarah, as man and wife have hereby made the change in the aforesaid Intended Gift of Rose. I do also here, by the these presents give my Grand Daughter Esther Foushee for natural Love & affection which I Bear the said Esther Faushee having also raised her from Infancy the following negroes, to wit, Winney & her two Children by the names of Hannah & Mary them and their Increase to her, her heirs & assigns forever. And I do also by thse presents for the natural Love and affection which I Bear by two Grand Daughters Peggy and Gracey Twin Daughters of my son Daniel Field give the said Twin Daughters two negro girls by the name of Amy & Esther. And which said two negro girls must be Drawn for by the two Daughters and the Lot falling to Each is hereby Consideration as the gift to them with future Increase of the one Each go’s by Ballot to Each daughter their Heirs and assigns forever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the 12th day of October in the year of out Lord one thousand seven Hundred & Ninety Signed Sealed & Delivered In the presence of us Rob Slaughter Jun s/s H Field William Stanton At a Court held for Culpeper County the 17th day of January 1791. This Deed of gift from Henry Field to John, Esther Foushee, Peggy Field & Gracey Field was partly proved by the oath of Robert Slaughter Jun (one of the Witnesses thereto) and ordered to be Certified. And at a Court held for the said the 18th day of July 1791 This said Deed of gift was fully proved by the oath of William Stanton & ordered to be recorded. Teste John Jameson
