Culpeper County I do hereby certify that Benjamin Barbee was a soldier in the 16th? Virginia Regiment and find in ______ _____ he was frost bitten by ____ he lost his toes on each? foot. Earnes Williams (unreadable words here) I do hereby certify that Benjamin Barbee, late a private in the (unreadable)Virginia Regiment of where pay was at the rate of 12 pounds per annum, was frostbitten and thereby lost the toes of both of his feet, while in the service of the United States; and that he is allowed the sum of Twelve Pounds yearly to commence from the first day of January One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty six- Given under my hand as Governor of the Commonwea lth of Virginia, at Richmond, this 25th day of Aug:1788 T.
