The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ******************************************************************************** Will: James Allan, Culpeper Co, VA (1758) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I James Allan of the County of Culpeper and Parrish of Saint Marks and Colony of Virginia being sick & weak but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God for it, calling to mind the undertainty of this life that it is appointed for all men once to die, I do appoint & make this my last will and testament and none other. First, I bequeath my soul to almighty God and maker and to Jesus Christ my redeemer and to the Holy Ghost my santifier and my body the earth from whence it came to be buried in such decent manner and christian form as to my Executors shall be thought meet and convenient there to rest untill my soul and body meet together at the glorous morning of the resurrection. Item: I lend to my well beloved wife Mary all that I wholy and solely possess during her widowhood but if she chances to marry, then only her thirds. Item: I give and bequeath to my well beloved son William two hundred and five acres of land when he arrives at the age of twenty one years lying and being in the main fork of Rapahannuck in the aforesaid County adjoining to the land of Thomas Wale and to the land of Stufly Simmerman to the land of Bryan Thornhill and to the land of Charles Morgan, to him and his heirs forever, but in case my son William dies without issue, my will and desire is that it may fall to my daughter Elizabeth Allan to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth all the movables I wholly and solely possess with I believe about the quantity of forty barrells of corn to be turned into g?__nn__y, to her and her heirs forever.  But in case my daughter Elizabeth dies without issue, my will and desire is that it may fall to my son William and his heirs forever. Item: but in case both my children, viz: William Allan and Elizabeth should die without heir, my will and desire is that the land I left to my son William may fall to _____ William Allan, to him and his heirs for ever, but if he dies without heir, then my will and desire is that the land shou'd be sold and turned into money and then equally divided between my three sisters, viz: Ann Allan, Martha and Elizabeth. Item: My will and desire is that if both my children, viz: William Allen and Elizabeth should die without heir, then my desire is that William Stamps Junior should possess wholly and solely that is every thing I left to my daughter Elizabeth. Now I appoint my dear wife and William Stamps Jr and William Tackett to be Executors of this my Last Will.
