The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ******************************************************************************** Will: Edward Mercy, Culpeper Co, VA (1754) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Edward Mercy of the Culpeper County, being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to the almighty God, do ordain, constitute and appoint this my last will and testament in manner and form following: Imprimis: I will and bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty God that gave it and my body to be buried according to the discression of my Executor hereafter named in sure and certain hope of a joyfull resurrection to eternal life.  And as touching what few worldly goods I have, I do dispose of them in manner and form following: I will and bequeath to Elizabeth Dod one ewe and two lambs and a young sow and all the rest of my estate to be appraised and the money after my lawfull debts are paid to be equally divided among my children, viz: my eldest daughter Anne Mercy to be for herself to her own living and my three sons to live with David Davis till they become of age, William, James and Thomas and my youngest daughter Meldred and _____(too faint to read) to learn them to read and write. And I appoint David Davis sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament. David Davis, the Executor therein named refused to take upon him the burthen of the Execution thereof. And                  At a Court held for the County of Culpeper                      Friday, the 17th day of May 1754 On the motion of William Brown, Certificate is granted him for obtaining Letters of Administration with this Will annexed giving security according to law.                                                       Teste:                                                       Roger Dixon, Cl.Cur.
