The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ******************************************************************************** Will: William Pannill, Culpeper Co, VA (1749) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I William Pannill being very sick and in a languishing condition but in perfect sence and memory, blessed be God for it, but calling to mind the uncertainty of this life, I humbly commit my soul to almighty God that gave it me through the merits of his only son Jesus Christ our Lord and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned.  And as for what worldly goods that God has been pleased to bestow upon me, I give in manner following, vizt: Item: I give unto my well beloved wife Sarah Pannill one bay horse called Jacob. Item: My desire is that my youngest son Joseph Pannil, when he arrives to the age of twenty four years shall have eighty pounds current money to be paid proportionally by his four elder brothers, viz: Samuel Pannil, William Pannil, David Pannil and John Pannill. Item: I give to my daughter Frances Pannill thirty pounds current money at day of marriage or when she shall arrive to the age of twenty years. Item: I give to my sons Samuel Pannill & John Pannill all the land that I bought of William Knother? to be equally divided between them, both in quantity and quality to them and their heirs lawfully begotten forever. Item: I give to my sons William Pannill and David Pannill all the land that I bought of Major Tomleson lyeing in Orange County to be equally divided between them, both in quantity and quality, to them and their heirs lawfully begotten forever. Item: My desire is that if any one of my sons that I have given my land to should die without heir lawfully begotten, then his part of the land to fall to my youngest son Joseph Pannill and not to have any part of the money before intended for him. Item: My desire is that when my children shall come to the age of twenty one years they shall make choice of one man and then with the Executors of this Will, they shall divide the negroes and all my other moveable estate into as many equal parts as I shall have children then alive and each child to have an equal part. I do hereby appoint my welbeloved wife Sarah Pannill and Samuel Pannill my son Executrix and Executor of this my Last Will and Testament revoking all other. AS WITNESS my hand and seal this 25th day of February 1749.                                                       William Pannill (LS) Test: John Sorven     her Hannah  X  Laruey     mark                    At a Court held for the County of Culpeper                       Thursday, the 16th day of August 1750 This Last Will and Testament of William Pannill, dec'd, was proved by the oaths of John Sorven and Hannah Laruey, the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.  And Sarah Pannill, the Executrix herein named came into court and renounced the Executors help thereof and therefrom on the motion of Edward Spencer, gentleman, who made oath according to law, Certificate is granted him for obtaining Letters of Administration of the estate of the said decedant with this Will annexed giving security according to law.                                                     Teste:                                                     Roger Dixon, Cl.Cur.
