Will of Benjamin Taylor. 19 Aug 1776 In the name of God, Amen, I, Benjamin Taylor, of the county of Culpepper, parish of Marks, calling to mind the uncerrtainly (their spelling) of this life, do make this my last willl and testement, that is to say chirfly and principally I recommend my soul unto the hands of Almightly God, that give it and my body to the earth to be buried in a christian like decent burial at the descretion of my executors here after named & touching such wordly estates wherewith it has pleased God to grant me this life. I give, devise and dispose of in the following manner and form. Imprimis it is my desire that my land shall belong to my son Thomas Taylor after my decease. Item: I give unto my son Thomas Taylor my great bible and common prayer book and my cooperate carpenters tools with my wearing aparel. Item: I give unto my daughters, Elizabeth Miles, and Mary Butler, my two negro girls Nan and Lucy and their increase to be divided as they can agree without selling. Item: I give unto my grandsons, Charles Taylor, Benjamin Taylor and James Taylor forty shillings, each, to be paid toward their schooling when they arrive to take learning and as for the rest of my estate I decree it may be divided equally between my son Thomas Taylor, Elizabeth Miles and Mary Butler after my last debts are paid and I do appoint my son Thomas Taylor and my son- in-law Charles Miles and my son-in-law John Butler execors of this my last will and testament revoking all former wills by me here to for made and do decree this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
