Cumberland County DATE: 1816, date of oldest grave (marker). OWNERS: Mr. Robert Davis, Cumberland, Virginia, R.F.D. #1. DESCRIPTION: The cemetery is northeast of “Bonbrook House”. It is nearly covered with honeysuckle and briars. There are a few markers of native stone, but whose graves they mark, is not known. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Inscriptions on stones: Large thick upright marble stone inscribed: John Park Wilson 1790 – 1871 his wife Elizabeth Woodson Trent 1807 – 1888 Their son Henry J. Wilson Born “Bonbrook”, Cumberland Co., Va. January 11, 1848 Died October 22, 1884 Erected by the request of his son Henry Harrison Wilson 1934 Their work do follow them. Small upright slab inscribed: Isaac Gibson infant son of John P. Jr. and E.I. Wilson Born Jan’y 7, 1863 Died July 22, 1864 Medium sized upright slab inscribed: In memory of John Lovell Harris son of G.H. and Judith R. Harris Born Nov. 9th 1848 Died Oct. 19th 1857 Asleep in Jesus Medium sized upright slab inscribed: In memory of Charlotte Anne Harris daughter of G.H. and Judith R. Harris Born May 3, 1854 Died Oct. 7th 1857 Sparkled—was exhaled and went to heaven. Medium upright slab inscribed: In memory of Wallace Deane Harris Son of G.H. and Judith R. Harris Born April 13, 1857 Died July 17, 1857 Our little babe Large flat slab inscribed: In Joyful hope of a Joyous resurrection died Mrs. Maria Willis Wilson January 6th, 1818 Aged 24 years and 18 days Medium sized flat slab inscribed: Sacred to the memory of Willis Park Wilson who died June 28th, 1816 Aged 10 months and 28 days Of such is the kingdom of Heaven. Large flat slab inscribed: When a good man dies, then all the people mourn.
