Meadow Also known as: Miller’s Cemetery Cemetery Location: 5 miles north of Farmville, Va. on Route #45; thence 7 miles east on Route #638; thence 200 yards north on private road leading to cemetery. Cumberland County DATE: 1850. OWNERS: John Miller 1817 to 1853 John T. Miller 1855 to unknown date Sem Miller Unknown to date. Present owner. (1937) DESCRIPTION: Cottage Grove or Miller’s cemetery is northeast of the house, and vegetable gardens. There are no shrubbery, flowers or trees in this cemetery. It is enclosed by a wire fence and one iron gate. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: In this cemetery is the grave of Captain John Miller who was an officer in the Mexican War. At one time Captain Miller owned hundreds of acres of land, of which the Old Cottage Grove plantation and home is a part. Dr. John T. Miller who was a prominent physician in this community is also buried in this family cemetery. No markers at the grave of Captain John Miller or Dr. John T. Miller.
