Half an acre was reserved for the cemetery, but a section of ground 30 yards square is enclosed with woven wire. In this graveyard, there are several trees, two being cedar and the remainder locust trees. The place is overgrown with honeysuckle. There are ten graves, only one having a marker. This marble slab is at the grave of an old Confederate soldier, James Woodruff. He served the entire four years in the War Between the States. Mr. Woodruff was the brother-in-law of the present owner (1937) J. S. Smith. The first person to be buried at this place was the sister of the present owner and the first wife of James Woodruff. She was buried about 1870. Incidentally, Mr. Woodruff’s second wife was also the sister of J.S. Smith. Moses A. Smith, a former owner, was a deacon of the Baptist Church for forty years. He was the father of the present owner. Peter Smith, who was the brother of the present owner, was a deacon of the Baptist church for thirty years. He had the church built, in which he worked. In 1882, Moses Smith, Jr., the brother of J.S. Smith, was accidentally shot, while hunting squirrels. SOURCES OF INFORMATION: Informant: Mr. J.
