CUMBERLAND COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Union Hill Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Union Hill cemetery: 1936 Apr. 29 Research made by Marie Keller Frazee Cemetery Location: .6 mile north of Cumberland, Virginia, on Route #60, left, 5.3 miles on Route #622, left 2.2 miles on Route #650. Cumberland County DATE: 1837, date of oldest grave. OWNERS: The Page family. DESCRIPTION: This graveyard, with the exception on the grave of A.C. Page, is in a dire state of neglect. The graves are covered with honeysuckle, and some of the tombstones have fallen down. There probably are more tombstones under the mass of vines, (the writer unearthed one) but the vines will have to be cut away, before further search can be made. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following inscriptions were found on stones in the cemetery: Eliza Trent Page Born October 19, 1815 Died September 16, 1838 Ellen Cary Page Born June 19, 1817 Died May 19, 1837 In memoriam Archibald Cary Page Born April 22nd 1824 Died September 27, 1871 We walked with God and he was not, for God took him. There is rest in heaven Lucy A. Page Born September 7, 1826 Died April 22, 1853 For is we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus, will God bring with him. John C. Page Born May 14, 1784 Died May 14, 1853 Whatsoever the hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.
