Veterans Who Had Not Applied for Land, 1780 - Cumberland Co. VA Court Order Book 12 1780 In Cumberland county Court Order Book 12 (1780) several entries give accounts of Cumberland men who served in this conflict (French and Indian war) and had not previously applied for land. They were as follows: John Davis " a soldier in the service in 1758 and served under Captain Thomas Fleming in Bird's Regiment, and claims lands agreeable to Dinwiddie's proclamation and late act of the assembly."
