Cumberland Co., Deed Book 1, pages 124-25 This Indenture made this fifth day of December 1768 between Hugh McCARGO and Margaret his wife of the County of Cumberland of the one part and Thomas Suggit HILL of the County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Hugh McCARGO and Margaret his wife for and in consideration of the sum of 40 pounds current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by Thomas Suggit HILL at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they do hereby confess themselves satisfied contented and paid hath given granted bargained and sold and do by these presents give grant bargain and sell unto Thomas Suggit HILL his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in said County of Cumberland whereon said McCARGO now lives containing by patent granted Sampson FLEMING 75 acres be it more or less and bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at a large white oak at lower end of said plantation running thence south 74 degrees west to a pine standing in the line of Edward CLEMENTS thence along a line of marked trees to pointers thence north 74 degrees east to a line standing in the line of William MINTON a corner tree thence along a line of marked trees to the white oak the first station. To have and to hold this said 75 acres of land as aforesaid to the aforesaid Thomas Suggit HILL his heirs and assigns forever together with all and singular the appurtinances thereto belonging or in any wise appurtaining and the rents issues and profits thereof and every part and parcel thereof and the said Hugh McCARGO further for himself his heirs and assigns covenant to and wit the said Thomas Suggit HILL his heirs and assigns that it shall and may be lawful for the said Thomas Suggit HILL at this time and at all times hereafter quietly and peaceably to have hold occupy possess and enjoy the said mentioned piece or parcel of land and premises without the ___ suit molestation or interruption of him said Hugh McCARGO his heirs and assigns any other person claiming under him them or any other person whatsoever. In witness whereof we hereunto our hands and seals the day and year above written signed sealed and delivered in presence of Isaac BEACHAM, William HILL, Isaac HILL, Lawson HOBSON.
