McAsham of the one part and John L. Trent of the other part both of Cumberland county withesseth that whereas by deed bearing date the 24th day of March 1836 a certain John A Trent did bargain grant and sell to John T. McAsham and H. C. Boston a certain tract or parcel of land together with various other propertoy all of which will appear by reference to said deed now of record in the Clerks office of Cumberland County together with the boundaries of said land as well as the purpose of the said deed will appear and whereas John T. McAsham one of the trues=tees aforesaid having advertised the said land made sale of three hundred acres more or less of the same in strict performance of all of the requirements of said deed, and John L. T rnet having become the purchaser thereof and having paid the same to wit the sum of twenty six hundred dollars the receipt of which is acknowledged Now this indeneture witnesseth that the said John T . McAsham in consideration of the premises and in pursuance of the authority vested in him by said deed bargain, grant and sell to the said John L. Trent his heir He the said tract of land supposed to contain three hundred acres more or less and bounded as follows, by Wm. Price, Elijah Glover, Samuel Wilson, Est. Charles Woodson, Willis river and the lands of McAsham and Trent, to have and to hold to him and his heirs free from the claim of the said John T. McAsham and his heirs, but it is hereby understood that the said John T. McAsham acting as trustee only conveys such title as it vested in him by said deed. In Testimony whereof the said John T. McAsham (Seal) In Cumberland County Court Clerks office 21st day of May 1842 the foregoing deed from John T. McAsham trustee to John L. Trent was received in the clerks office and acknowledged by said McAsham to be his act and deed and admitted. Teste B.B. Woodson, DC Deed Book 25, Page 29 Cumberland County VA This indenture made this 17th day of May 1842, between John L. Trent and Courtney L. his wife of the first part and Henry P. Irving of the second part, and the creditor hereinafter mentioned of the third part. Whereas the said John L. Trent is indebted on his own account by him to Peyton Deane and Edwards which debt is evidenced by bond bearing date some time in January 1842 for about the sum of twenty one hundred and fifty dollars the exact amount of which will appear by reference to said note, and whereas the said John L. Trent is also indebted as one of the late firm of McAsham and Trent to divers persons creditors of said firm the amount of whose claims as well as the names of which creditors will appear by reference to the schedule marked A. and appended to this deed and whereas the said John L. Trent is desirous to secure the said debts in order hereinafter prescribed Now this Indenture witnesseth that in consideration of the premises and of one dollar paid by said Irving to the said Trent has granted bargained and sold conveyed assigned and transferred , and by these present doth grant, bargain and sell, convey assign and transfer to the said H. P. Irving and his heirs the following property to wit a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Cumberland containing or supposed to contain three hundred acres be the same more or less and bounded by the lands of William Rice Elijah Glover, Samuel Wilson, Col. Charles Woodson, Willis river and also by the land belonging to the late firm of McAsham and Trent, also two negro slaves Jesse and Haney and the increase of the female, also six slaves named Tom, Maria, Anson, Bob, Jerry and Mary with the increase of the females, also all of his household and kitchen furniture of every description three horses, one barouche and one two horse waggon and harness which last mentioned six slaves, and other property are included in a deed executed by said Jno L. Trent to secure a debt due to John Robertson all of which will appear by reference to said deed now of record in the Clerks Office of the County Court of Cumberland also certain medical accounts a list of which marked I is appended to this deed, to have and to hold the property both real and personal before mentioned to the said Henry P Irving and his heirs, upon the following tract nevertheless that the said H. P. Irving on his heirs shall make sale of the land at any time after the 1st day of October next and after having advertised the same for thirty days in some news paper published in the City of Richmond upon a credit of three equal separate installments of six months, twelve months and two years and that he s hall at the instance of any of the creditors after the first day of October next after having advertised in such manner as he may think proper the personal
