Morgan Family Deeds, abstracted, 1773-1774 - Cumberland Co. VA Book 5, Page 135 Dated 16 January 1773, recorded 25 January 1773 Robert Pleasants, executor of his late father John Pleasants of Henrico County, surviving partner of his late brother John Pleasants of Cumberland County, both deceased, sold to Thomas Morgan of Cumberland for the sum of 30 pounds, acknowledged land sold to him at public sale by John Pleasants on 9 March 1771, resulting from a mortgage made to the said John Pleasants, surviving partner of John Pleasants, Jr., (then deceased), by William Davis the elder, to secure a debt due from William Davis, Jr. But, since John Pleasants of Henrico died before a deed could be duly executed, Robert Pleasants as executor and heir-at-law executed a deed for about 50 acres bounded by the lands of Elizabeth Davis, Charles Woodson, and Henry Macon. Witnesses were James Pleasants, Charles Woodson, Jr., Francis Harris, and Edmund Toney (his mark). Book 5, Pages 250-1 20 March 1774 A copy of the bill of sale from John Pleasants, dated 16 April 1771, was recorded for the above 50 acres. Witnesses: Darby Forline (his mark), James Baker, and Noble Jordan.
