VA Order Book 1779-1784 Re: Charlton 22 Nov 1779 Page 92 At a Court held for Cumberland county at the court house of the said county on Monday the twenty second day of November one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine. Present: Joseph Carrington Henry Skipworth Frederick hatcher Benjamin Wilson Thomas Sugett Hill Richard Allen and John Woodson Jr. Gentleman Abraham Chalton came into court and made oath that he was a soldier in the service in the year one thousand seven hundred and fifty eight and served six months in Captain Thomas Flemings company in Byrd's Regiment and claims land agreeable to governer Dinwiddies proclamation and a late act of assembly.
