Impr. I bequeath my soul to almighty God that gave it and my body to be buried at the discretion of my executors of this my will hereafter mentioned. Item I give and bequeath to my son Anthony my negro man named Luster. Item I give and bequeath to my son John my negro boy George. Item I give and bequeath to my son James my land and plantation in Essex county to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son Johnathan my two negros named James and Champ. Item I give and bequeath to my son James thirteen pounds cash. Item I give and bequeath to my grandson John Scrugs my negro boy named Lonon. Item I leave to my daughter Ann the use of my negro named Majer during her life and I give the said negro named Mayger after her death to my granddaughter Sarah Scrugs to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Lucresia my negros named old Roafe and young Roafe. Item I give and bequeath to my son Hezekiah my negros named Harry Nann Robin David to him and his heirs forever. Item I leave to my son John and his wife Betty the use of my negro woman named Cate til my granddaughter Maryann Haws Colquet arrives to the age of eighteen and then the said negro named Cate and all her increase to be equally divided between my son John and my granddaughter Maryann Haws Colquitt to them and their heirs forever. And all the rest of my estate that I have not yet mentioned movably and immovable I give to my son Hezekiah to him and his heirs forever. And lastly I nominate and appoint my two sons Johnathan and Hezekiah whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament who is hereby ordered to pay and discharge all my just debts and I hereby revoke and make void all other wills either verbal or written heretofore by me made and do publish and declare this to be my last will and testament. At a court held for Cumberland county 24th July 1769 This last will and testament of John Colquet deceased was proved by Thomas Nash and Lucy Nash witnesses therto and ordered to be recorded and on motion of Jonathan Colquet and Hezekiah Colquet executors therein named who made oath according to law certificate is granted then for obtaining a probate thereof in due form giving security whereupon they together with Adcock Hobson John Winfree and William Hudson their security ordered into bond according to law.
