All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ==================================================================== Will Book 2, Page 272 I Laurance Anderson of Cumberland county, being in perfect health of body and enjoying perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling to mind the mortality of my body, and knowing it is appointed for me once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, First, and principally, I give and recommend my soul to God who gave it me, and my body I resign unto the earth but as touching such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and dispose of the same in the following manner, Viz. I lend unto my beloved wife Rhoda, all the estate I have a right to and interest in, during her natural life, and my desire is that my children be kept together and maintained and educated out of the profits of my estate according to the discretion of my executors, and after the death of my wife, my desire is that all my estate both real and personal be sold to the highest bidder, and the money thence arising, equally divided among all my children, or their legal representative or representatives. And if my wife should prove pregnant and be delivered of a child, then my desire is that it shall have a proportionable part with the rest of my children of every thing, or the value thereof, to it & its heirs forever. I appoint, nominate, and ordain, my brother William Anderson, and James Hudgens the executors of this my last will and testament, and do hereby revoke disannul, and make void, all other wills, hitherto, made by me either verbal, or written, and do acknowledge and declare this to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty third day of February one thousand, seven hundred and eighty one. Larnce Anderson L.S. This last will and testament of Laurance Anderson deceased was exhibited in court by William Anderson and James Hudgens executors therein named and the same being proved by John Anderson and Drury Lacy two of the witnesses thereto is ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said executor who made oath according to law certificate is granted them for obraining a probat threof in due form giving security whereupon they with William Daniel and Jeffrey Robinson teir securities entered into bond according to law.
