Will of John Cook, Cumberland County, Virginia - 1775 Will Book 2/ Page 193 Dated 15 April 1775 Probated 25 September 1775 In the name of God amen I John Cook of the county of Cumberland being of perfect sense and memory doe[sic] make this my last will and testament. First, I give my soul to Jesus Christ our blessed lord and savior and now I present my body to the dust to be buried in a decent manner in hopes of a happy resurrection at the last day and as for my worldly estate I leave in the manner and form as followeth: Secondly, I leave all my whole estate consisting of my land in Buckingham that is in dispute with Benjamin Arnold & the land whereon I now live and all my negroes, horses, cattle, hogs, sheep, household & kitchen furniture to be sold to pay my debts and all the money that is left after my debts are paid I give to my dear & beloved wife Mary Cook during her life or widowhood and after her decease or widowhood the the said money to be eaqually[sic] Divided between my son Stephen Cook, Mary Noell, & Frances Cook and all the rest of my children which are as followeth: John Cook jr, Aggy Chambers, Sarah Edwards, Elizabeth Hooper, James Cook, Agathy Bostick, Anne Coleman, nothing more than what I have already given them & I doe[sic] constitute and appoint George Hooper and my son Stephen Cook executors of this my last will and testament whereof I hereunto sett[sic] my hand and seal this fifteenth day of April 1775.
