Tues. Nov. 30, 1844, The Patriot, (Greensboro, N. C.)
  DIED, on the 27oth of August last, in Ray County, Missouri, MISS MARY E. 
SMITH, aged as nearly as the writer can tell, about 21 years, leaving many 
friends and relatives in the West and in Virginia. MISS SMITH removed with her 
brother, JAMES B. SMITH, in the Spring of 1840 from this county to Missouri.
