She was a native of Dickenson County, where she had lived most of her life. She had been a resident of Life Care Center in Greenville for the past four years. Mrs. Bookhamer taught school in Dickenson County for many years. She was a member of Clintwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Bookhamer; her parents, Bruce and Mary Speer; and two brothers, Earl Speer and Adron Speer. Her survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Ferne Bookhamer of Greeneville; two grandsons, Alan Bookhamer and his wife, Bettina, of Greeneville and Daniel Bookhamer of Greeneville; two sisters-in-law, Della Speer of Clintwood and Ven Speer of Bristol Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and several special friends. Graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5,. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Big Ridge section, with Pastor Allen Bonnell officiating. Pallbearers will be Alan Bookhamer, Daniel Bookhamer, Addie Speer, Jim Speer, Pat Simpson, Don Bailey and Roger Stanley. The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Mullins Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Mullins Funeral Home is serving the Bookhamer family.
