Born March 28, 1917, in Trammel, Va., she was a daughter of the late Harrison and Mary Jane Niece Austin. She had lived in Honaker for the past 32 years, moving there from Trammel. She was of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Wood; five sisters; one brother; three grandchildren; and one great- grandchild. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Marshall of Speedwell, Va., Shirley Phillips of Castlewood and Judy Street of Honaker; one son, Ralph Phillips of Honaker; one special granddaughter, Melanie Sheppard of Honaker; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Clyde Sparks officiating. Interment will follow in the Patton Cemetery at Nora, Va. Pallbearers will be Chris Boyd, Ralph B. Phillips, Timothy Phillips, Steve Phillips, James Marshall Sr., and Anthony "Andy" Street.
