Phipps CLINTWOOD -- Jackie L. Phipps, 67, died at Dickenson County Medical Center on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002. A lifelong resident of Dickenson County, he was the son of the late Roley and Alma Phipps. Jackie was retired from Dickenson County School System after 37 years of service at Ervinton High School. Surviving are his wife, Doris Phipps; two sons and daughter-in-law, Danny Ray Phipps and his wife Janie, and Shawn Phipps, all of Clintwood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam Phipps and her husband Raymond, Clintwood, and Heather Robinson and her husband Steve of Kingsport; a brother, Sidney Phipps, Clintwood; three sisters, Frances Hollyfield, Wise, Veronica Fulkerson, Kingsport and Jequita Smith, Clintwood; and three grandchildren, Daniel, Jacklyn and Elijah. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, from the Clintwood Funeral Home with Minister Lynn Vanover officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery, Route 2, Clintwood. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Thursday with a service to follow at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. Clintwood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
