A native of Dickenson County, she was the eldest daughter of Lundy and Dona (Taylor) Sutherland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie R. Rasnick, November 28, 1978. Also preceding her were brothers and sisters, Bertie Owens, Sallie Stiltner, Jerry Finis Sutherland, Gladys Compton, Margie Dunlap and Kern Sutherland. Mrs. Rasnick was a member of the Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church since October, 1956. A resident of Clintwood for about 70 years, she owned and operated the Rasnick Store (the little red store) on Route 1 for many years. She is survived by sister-in-law, Jeanne Sutherland; numerous nieces and nephews from Alabama, California, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia; also many extended family members, friends and loving neighbors; also very special friends, Ronnie and Jenny Mullins and family. The Sutherland family would like to take this opportunity to thank Ronnie and Jenny Mullins for their kind and loving care they have given Bettie over the last 10 years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church on Frying Pan at Tiny, Va. Elders Victor Church, Joe Edwards and Darrell Davis will be officiating. Burial will be in the Rasnick- Grizzle Family Cemetery, Lick Creek Section, Birchleaf. Pallbearers: Dean Rasnick, Jerry Rasnick, Eugene Miller, James L. Sykes and Ronnie Mullins. Honorary pallbearer, Robert Dunlap. The family will receive friends Friday, March 28, at 6 p.m. in the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel where a service will be held at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Mr. David Owens, HCR 91, Box 152, Birchleaf, VA 24220. Mullins Funeral Home is serving the family.
