Powell Cemetery Location: .2 mile west of McKenney, Virginia, to Route #40; thence on this Route to Route #613; thence 10.5 miles on this Route to the intersection of the old Bailey lane on Route #613; thence .4 mile on a private lane to this burying ground. Dinwiddie County DATE: About 1843. OWNERS: Mr. and Mrs. Earnest B. Procise, Danville, Virginia. (1937) DESCRIPTION: On July 19, 1843, there is a deed recorded in Deed Book 4, at page 77, in which “one acre of land is reserved for a burying ground.”. This is now, a wilderness of briars and bushes, and there are no markers to the graves. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: None.
