Research made by Mamie Fraser Cemetery Location: 7 miles southeast of Dinwiddie, Virginia, on Route #625; thence north 2 miles on Route #609; thence west 1 mile on private road. Dinwiddie County DATE: 1848. OWNERS: The burying ground was owned first by Thomas G. Chappell, and later by George Chappell. It is now owned by I.H. Pecht. (1936) DESCRIPTION: This burial place is enclosed with woven wire and the graves are over run with honeysuckle. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following inscriptions are to be found on the tombstones in the graveyard: Sacred to the memory of Harriet Stith Chappell Consort of Thomas G. Chappell Born 1818 Died November 24, 1848 Sacred to the memory of George W. Chappell Born June 28th 1842 Died September 19th 1887 Life without thee husband, Seems cold and dark to me; How much of joy and brightness, I’ve lost in losing thee. Since thou canst no longer stay, To cheer me with my love, I hope to meet with thee again, In yon bright world above. Come let us join our friends above. I would not live alway. Sarah Frances Wife of G.W. Chappell Born December 6th 1844 Died December 17th 1916 A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled, A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled.
