Dinwiddie County DATE: 1892, date of oldest marked grave. OWNERS: The Hogwood family. (1936) DESCRIPTION: The Hogwood family graveyard is located in a woods just a short distance north of the White Oak Road. There are 10 graves in the plot which are marked, and about as many which are much older, and unmarked. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following are inscriptions copied from the markers: Mother and Son Elizabeth J. Mayes Wife of John Hogwood Born October 26, 1834 Died February 28, 1913 Asleep in Jesus blessed thought and John W. Hogwood Born March 19, 1871 Died April 6, 1914 Thy trials ended thy rest is won In Loving Remembrance of John Hogwood Born Sept. 11, 1832 Died Jan. 12, 1892 and of His Son Ernest C. Hogwood Born Feb. 7, 1880 Died Jan. 9, 1892 Gone But Not Forgotten Other graves which are marked are dated too late to use.
