Dinwiddie County DATE: The oldest grave is that of a Confederate soldier. It has no date. OWNERS: Ocran Church. DESCRIPTION: (blank) HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following square is enclosed by a concrete curbing, and has “J.A. Dunnavant” written on it. There is only one tombstone in this square, this one being a Confederate marker. James A. Dunnavant Co. D 25 Va. Inf. The following square is enclosed by a wire fence. There are four graves in this square that are not marked by tombstones. Benjamin F. Moody Co. E 41 Va. Inf. Benjamin F. Moody Born March 6, 1832 Died Aug. 5, 1902 Virginia F. Moody Born Feb’y 17, 1842 Died Oct. 16, 1915 God’s finger touched them and they slept. The following square is not enclosed. Three graves in this square are marked, but the inscriptions are not old enough to use. Two graves here are not marked at all. Martha I. Wife of S. H. Walthall Oct. 22, 1853 Dec. 22, 1925 S. H. Walthall Co. D 5 Va. Cav. C.S.A. Dec. 25, 1842 Sept. 25, 1929 There are many other graves in this cemetery, but these are the only ones with inscriptions old enough to use.
