Jones home: 1937 May 7 Research made by Mamie Fraser Cemetery Location: 4 miles east of McKenney, Virginia on Route #40, thence 50 yards south on private road. Dinwiddie County DESCRIPTION: Across the road and a short distance to the left is the Pinchbeck family graveyard, with Captain Pinchbeck’s table tomb, enclosed in an earthen wall. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Captain Pinchbeck purchased this home from Colonel William Ross, it was taken down and rebuilt on this place. On the tombstones in the graveyard are the following inscriptions: Sacred to the memory of Mary Ann Caroline Elizabeth Pinchbeck who was born May 27, 1834 And departed this life July 6, 1840 Age 6 years, 1 month and 20 days Death may the bonds of life unloose But cannot dissolve my love Millions of infant souls compose the family above. Sacred to the memory of Capt. Thomas Pinchbeck Who was born August 28, 1801 and departed this life in peace. January 29, 1847 age 45 years, 5 months, 1 day Leaving an affectionate wife, two children and numerous friends to lament his untimely death Rest gentle spirit thou hast fled From his dark and sinful ways, And gone to realms of purer light, A home of happy joyous days.
