Wells graveyard: 1937 Oct. 14 Research made by Mamie Fraser Cemetery Location: 5.3 miles southwest of Dewitt on route 646, thence southeast .9 mile on route 665, thence northeast about 1 mile on a private road. Dinwiddie County DATE: The graveyard was probably begun in 1878. OWNERS: The land on which the burial plot is located has been reserved and is owned by the heirs of Mr. Adam Y. Wells, who are: Mrs. Verna L. Bain, Mrs. Virginia Hawkins, Mrs. Irma Wells, Messrs. William, Charles and Bernard Wells. DESCRIPTION: The burial ground is enclosed with a plain wire fence and there are two tombstones to be seen. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following persons are known to be buried in the graveyard: Peterson Wells Died September 5, 1878 Aged 73 years Lucretia Wells Wife of Peterson Wells Died June 16, 1884 Aged 68 years The following inscriptions are to be found on the tombstones: Adam Y. Wells Born May 11, 1843 Died February 7, 1907 He is gone but not forgotten Anna E. Kennedy Wells Wife of Adam Y. Wells Born September 13, 1832 Died August 13, 1913 The Lord is my Shepherd.
