Chandler, Mary A., his wife, and Eliza F. Traylor of the county of Dinwiddie of the one part, and Lucy Ann Rebecca Royall of the same county, of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Benjamin B. Chandler, Mary, his wife, and Eliza F. Traylor for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars current money of Virginia to him in hand paid the said Lucy Ann Rebecca Royall at or before the ??? and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Lucy Ann Rebecca Royall her heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land called Poverty Peak, lying in and being in the County of Dinwiddie adjoining the lands of ??hal Tucker, William ?. Goodwyn and others and containing one hundred acres, together with all and singular advantages and aper?? Of every kind to them belonging or in any wise appertaining. And the said Benjamin B. Chandler et al TO: Bargain of Deed and Sale Lucy Ann Rebecca Royall This indenture made and entered into this 9th day of June 1849 between Lorenzo D. Harmon Trustee for Mary A. Chandler and others of the first part and Lucy Ann R. Royall of the second part. Witnesseth that where as the said Lorenzo D. Harmon was appointed a trustee to a certain deed bearing date on the 9th day of March 1848 and duly recorded in the Clerk's Office of the County Court of Dinwiddie executed by Benjamin B. Chandler to me for the benefit of Mary A. Chandler and children with a clause therein empowering me to convey by deed a certain tract or parcel of land therein mentioned called Poverty Peak containing one hundred acres whenever I so authorized to do so by the said Mary A. Chandler. Now therefore, in consideration of the premises as well as the said authority in writing the said Lorenzo D. Harmon hath granted, bargained, and sold and by these present doth grant, bargain, and sell unto the said Lucy Ann R. Royall her heirs and assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land situated in Dinwiddie County known by the name of Poverty Peak, containing one hundred acres more or less. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land unto her the said Lucy Ann R. Royall her heirs and assigns forever. In testimony whereof the said Lorenzo D. Hoy This Indenture made and entered into this 10th day of September 1849, between Benjamin B. Chandler and Mary A., his wife, of the first part, and David F. Hoy, of the second part, all of the County of Dinwiddie and the state of Virginia. Witnesseth that the said Benjamin B. Chandler and Mary A., his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said David F. Hoy at or before the ensealing and delivery of these present, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, and sold, and by these present do grant, bargain, and sell ?/, ?? and confirm unto him the said David F. Hoy, his heirs and assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land lying in the County aforesaid line commencing at a corner of ?? pointers and on Thev. Tuckers live, thence N 5 degrees W 75 poles to Little Rocky River, thence down said river as it meanders to Norman's Corner, thence S 50 degrees E 88 poles to a corner of pointers, thence S 5 degrees E 36 poles to corner S??b, thence due west 120 poles to the beginning, containing fifty acres by survey, together with all appurtenances there to belonging or in anywise appertaining. To have and to hold the said David F Hoy his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Benjamin B. Chandler and Mary A., his wife, for themselves and their heirs do covenant and agree with the said David F. Hoy, that they the title of the land shall and will warrant and forever defend against the rights, title, claim and demands of ?? every person or persons whatsoever unto him the said David F. Chandler and Mary A. his wife, of the County of Dinwiddie of the first part, and Lorenzo D. Harmon of the same county of the second part all in the State of Virginia. Witnesseth that the said Benjamin B. Chandler and Mary A. his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy Five dollars lawful money of Virginia to them in hand ?/ by the said Lorenzo D. Harmon at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt wher?? Is hereby acknowledged , have given granted, bargained, and sold and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Lorenzo D. Harmon his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the said county of Dinwiddie on the North side of Turkey Egg road and bounded as follows . ?? Containing forty six and a quarter acres - to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances thereto belonging to him the said Lorenzo D. Chandler and Mary A., his wife, for themselves, their heirs, executors, and ?/ do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Lorenzo D. We also further certify that Mary Chandler, the wife of Benjamin B. Chandler TO: Deed of Trust Wills and Leas, Trustees An Indenture made and entered into in this twenty fourth day of June A.D. 1850 between Benjamin B Chandler and Mary Ann, his wife, of the county of Dinwiddie of the first part and John Lyon of the town of Petersburg of the second part and Peter B. Wills and William Lea partners under the firm and ?? of Wills and Leas in the said town of the third part. Whereas the said B.B. Chandler is indebted to the said Wills and Lea in the sum of sixty four dollars and forty nine cents due by his hand for said sum, dated the 17th day of June 1850. And payable on demand, and is desirous of securing the payment of the principal and interest of said loan and all of any other sum of money which may become due by him to the said Wills and Lea in the course of his dealings with them after this date, for goods sold and delivered, money lent or otherwise, in order that he the said Chandler may obtain credit with the said firm. Now therefore this indenture witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the premises and of the sum of one dollar by the said Lyon to the said Chandler in hand ?? the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledges, have bargained and sold granted and conveyed, and do by these presents bargain and sell grant and convey to the said John Lyon as Trustee the whole of the tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Dinwiddie ?? which the said BB Chandler now resides, containing two hundred and twenty five acres more or less, and bounded on the east by the lands of William ?? Wells and D?? S Wells, on the North by the land of David F. Hoy, on the east in part by the lands of William S. Brauton, and Capt. Robert Peebles and on the south by the lands of William Mann; (the tract herein conveyed being the whole residue of the tract called Taliaferro's, lying at and near the Crops (Crofs) road in the county of the aforesaid, about five miles west of the court house, which was bought of Dr. Smith by William Chandler the father of the said Benjamin, and desvised[??] by him to his said son, left, after taking off the portions sold and conveyed by the said William to Lorenzo Harmon, and by the said Benjamin to the said ?? Wells, & D. Wells, and DF Hoy) together with all and singular the advantages, improvements, and appurtenances thereon and thereto in any way belonging. To have and to hold the same to him the said Lyon and his heirs forever ?? trust and upon condition that the said John Lyon Trustee shall permit the said BB Chandler to occupy, use and enjoy the said land, and the rents and profits thereof until he shall be authorized to sell the same by the provisions of this deed. And if the said BB Chandler do not, on or before the 1st day of March A.D. 1851 pay the whole amount of the said bond, both principal and interest, but shall on the contrary continue until that time to make default in the payment of the whole or any part thereof then it shall be the duty of the said trustee at the request of either the said Chandler or the said Wills and Lea, to sell either the privately or at public auction, and upon such terms, as he may think best for the interests of all parties, the land herein conveyed, and to appro?/ the proceeds of such sale, first to the payment of the costs and charges of making and executing this trust deed, secondly, to the payment of the principal and interest then due upon the aforesaid bond. And thirdly to the payment of any other sums of money which may be due by the said Chandler to the said Wills and Lea by reason of any dealings taking place after this date, at the time of such sale. And the residue after making the payments aforesaid the said trustee shall pay over to the said BB Chandler, his successors, administrators, or assigns. And the said parties of the first part, for themselves and their heirs, ?/ land and appurtenances herein conveyed unto the said John Lyon and his heirs, shall, will, and do warrant, and by these presents forever defend against the claims of all persons whatsoever. ?? testimony whereof the said parties of the first and the second parts have hereto set their hands and seals the date first above written. Chandler and Mary A., his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said Drury L and Gillian H Wells at the delivery of these present the receipt where is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold unto the said Drury L and Gillian H Wells their heirs and ? one certain tract of land being in the county of Dinwiddie containing of recent survey, two hundred and twenty three acres bounded as follows ? Commencing at corner ?? between Wells and ?? thence S 10 E 270 poles to a corner of pointers ???? thence due ?? 150 poles to Young's line thence 266 poles to corner of pointers on Hoy line, thence due east 120 poles to the beginning. Together with all the appurtenances thereto belonging To have and to hold the said tract of land unto them the said Drury and Gillian Wells , their heirs and the said Benjamin B Chandler and Mary A., his wife, bind themselves and heirs to warrant and defend the title to said tract of land unto the said Drury and Gillian H Wells against the claim of all persons claiming by or through them the said Benjamin B Chandler and Mary A., his wife.
