Dinwiddie Co., VA Will William Ruffin, 1893 Will of William Ruffin 21 July 1893 In the name of God, Amen, I William Ruffin of the County of Dinwiddie, State of Virginia, being of sound mind and disposing memory, doth make and ordain this to be my last will and testament. Item: 1st. I wish all of my just debts together with my funeral expenses promptly paid. Item: 2nd. I give to my seven children to wit, James, Daniel, Benjamin, Edward, Fannie, Ann and L__________ P__________ all of my real estate on the following condition, to wit: the said real estate of which I may die seized and possessed to be kept together as a whole, with the right to either or all of my children or their heirs to build and settle on said land and cultivate their portion of the same, provided that the portion on which each child or the heirs may build or have already built shall be assigned to them as their part of the same. Item: 3rd. Should my son Daniel Ruffin be without heirs, then the same right granted to the other children and their heirs shall be given to Mollie Bet Hill an adopted child of my son Daniel Ruffin. Item: 4th. I desire by the above provisions of my will to entail the property so that each child shall have an equal right and their heirs after them to occupy said premises if they should so desire, as a home, and only such as do avail themselves of this right. Item: 5th. If after the payment of my debts and costs of administration and money should be left from the sale of my personal effects, then I wish that it be equally divided among my seven children. Item: 6th. I hereby appoint Mr. John C. Tucker as the administrator of this my last will and testament.
