George the third To all &c know Ye that for diverse good causes & 
considerations but more especially for & in consideration of the sum of ten 
shillings of good & lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of 
our Revenues in this our Colony & dominion of Virginia We have given granted 
and confirmed & by these presents for us our heirs & successors Do give grant & 
confirm unto Waters Dunn one certain tract or parcel of land containing eighty 
acres lying & being in the county of Pittsylvania on the south side of Smiths 
River and bounded as followeth, to wit, beginning at a hickory on the said 
river thence now Lines south eighty five degrees west one hundred & fifty eight 
poles to a red oak North seventy  five degrees west twenty one poles to a red 
oak North seventy four degrees West fifty  poles to a Pine South thirty two 
degrees West sixty two poles to a sorrel(?) tree south fifty five  degrees west 
forty two poles to a red oak on the said river & thence up river as it 
meanders  to the first station   With all &c To Have hold &c or to be held &c 
yielding & paying  provided &c In witness &c our trusted & well loved John Earl 
of Dunmore our Lieutenant Governor General of our said colony & Dominion at 
Williamsburg under the seal of our said colony the first day of August one 
thousand seven hundred & seventy two in the twelfth year of our reign.
