All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Janet King JPerdue192@aol.com October 19, 2010, 2:47 pm Source: Essex County Will Bk 7, Pg. 128 Written: January 13, 1743 IN THE NAME OF GOD - Amen I Richard Brisendine of South Franham parrish in Essex County Planter cauling to mind the uncertainty of Life being desirous of settling my imporal affairs in such maner while I am in perfect memory that I may in my last moments pay I hope dutyes to my Lord & Savior with the Greater Resignation Doe therefore Disposse of my Estate which it hath pleased God of his Great Mercey & Goodness to bless me with in this Life in manner following - Inprimes I lend to my Loving wife one hundred acres of land which I bought of Bob Leveritt joyning on the Dragon Swamp during her natural life and I lend my wife all the use of my Negroes with all my personall estate during her natural life and after her death I give one Negro woman named Nelly to my son Isaac Brisendine to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son John Brisendine one hundred acres of land that I bought of Major John Baylor to him and his heirs for ever. Item I give and Bequeath to my son Francis Brisendine the land as I lent to my wife after her death to him and his heirs for ever, I further give and bequeath all the rest of my estate to be equally divided among my children after the death of said wife. Finally I make and ordain my loving wife Executrix of this my Last will and Testament, revoking all others heretofore by me made ratifing this & none other to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hearwith sett my hand & fixed my seal this 13th day of Jan 1743.
