I command my soul to God hoping thro the merrits and mediation of my blessed savior to have full pardon and remission of my sins and as to what worldly Estate it has pleased God to bless me with after my debts are paid I give and off as follows. Imprimis to my son Ewen Clements I give two hundred pounds sterling and that to be raised out of my Estate immediately for his support in England also all my Books in the Physic and Surgery way and if my medicines and shop utensils with my chysurgical Instruments cannot be sold in the Country to their full value I also give my said medicines shop utensils and Chysurgical Instruments to my Son Ewen excepting my small Bell mettle morter and that I give to my wife. Item To my daughter Susanna Clements I give two hundred pounds to be paid her at the age of twenty or twenty and one just as it is convenient also my negro Boy Scipio when ever she pleases to take him also my negro Girl Betty or Betsey and a good Bed and Furniture note this negro Girl Betty or Bettsey is Becks daughter Item To my son Pitman Clements I give two hundred pounds and this to be raised as soon as convenient also my sword and my silver seal my riding mares Colt got by James Edmondson also my negro Boy Harry Becks son and a good Bed and Furniture note the above six hundred pounds is to be raised out of my Bonds Book debt my lot and house at Hobbs Hole part of my flock of Cattle Sheep and horses my Plate and House furniture what may be thought more than necessary for my familys use turn over. Item to my son Henry Haggard Clements I give my mourning ring my _____knee Buckles my Bristol Stone Studs also strawberries Colt. Item I give to my son Henry when he arrives at the age of twenty one my land I bought of Joseph Amis also the land I bought of William Smith and the land I purchased of Henry Williamson to him and his heirs forever. Item I give to my son Henry my negro Boy James (Sanchos' son) and his sister Maria also my negro Boy Cyrus and his Brother Jamey (Sp?) a good bed and furniture ten head of Cattle and half a score of sheep also my Gun and Bayonet with its furniture and my two pistols. To my wife Mary Ann Clements I lend all the residue of my Estate during her widowhood for the support of herself and my children not already provided for meaning my son Henry my son Mace my son William my daughter Mary and my daughter Catherine, but in case she should marry again then it is my will and desire that all my Estate given to her as before mentioned shall be sold at twelve or eighteen months credit except the Plantation and dwelling House she lives on meaning the land I bought of James Gatewood and land I purchased of Col William Dangerfield and these lands and Houses with their appurtenances therunto belonging I give to my son Pitman Clements immediately upon his mothers marrying again or death. Item I give to my wife my negro wenches Verrina and Beck and Becks son Jack during her natural life and it is my will and desire she shall have the disposal of these Negroes Vid. Verina Beck and Jack amongst my children as she shall think proper also I give my wife my Gold Bullons my Chaise or Chair with a pair of my best horses my harness and other things belonging thereto and at her disposal in like manner also my wearing apparel and the best bed and furniture in my house and five pounds current Money. Item It is my desire that not any of my family be put into mourning accepting my wife and two Eldest daughters and that to be charged to my Estate Item it is my will that my Estate both real and personal shall be sold at the death or marriage of my wife except the Plantation and negroes I have here given away and out of the money arising from the sale thereof FI give to each of my youngest children vid. my daughter Mary my son Mace my son William and my daughter Catherine to each of them two hundred pounds Item I give to my daughter Mary my negro girl Aggy Item It is my will that the residue of my Estate be equally divided between my daughter Susanna Robinson and my four youngest children Vid. Mary Mace William and Catherine Item It is my will and desire that my son Pitman Clements in consideration for the land and houses et. I have given him shall upon the death or marriage of his mother take his four younger Brothers and Sisters and maintain them out of his Estate till they arrive at the age of twenty or marrued. Item It is my will that he ___(finds?) out when ____(fitting?) Mace or William to some trade and calling that is most agreeable to their Genius but it is my desire that either Mace or William be sent home to England to my son Ewen Clements and to be brought up by him in his own business. Item It is my desire that my daughter Susanna Robinson have the bringing up of my daughter Mary in case of her mothers death Item It is my will that my Patients who are indebted to me if they desire it shall have a years credit provided they give their obligations to my Exors for what they owe me accepting what is now due on hand.
