Will of Francis Donehoe, 1771 - Essex County, Virginia

November 5, 1771

In the name of God amen I Francis Donehoe of Essex County in Virginia being weak in body but in
sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament as followeth ___ I recommend my 
soul to God that gave it and my body to the earth from whence it came  (top of page torn off) 
as for my worldly effects as it hath blessed God to bestow me with I dispose of _____as 
followeth (after my just and due debts are satisfied) I lend unto my loving wife Martha all my 
estate till the child she now is with comes to the years of eighteen and then to be equally 
divided between my wife and the rest of my children except my eldest son Thomas by reason of a 
purchase I made of my father now in possession of my Grandmother Elizabeth Donohoe which shall 
condesend to him after her death and lastly I ordain and appoint my beloved friends, Thomas 
Gouldman, Robert Parker my executors of this my last will and testament in testimony whereof I 
herewith set my hand and affix my seal the fifth day of November one thousand seven hundred and 
seventy one.

At court held for Essex County at Tap. On Monday the 18th day of November 1771 This will was 
presented in court by Thomas Gouldman one of the Ex. Therein named who made _____to according 
to law which being also proved by the oaths of Gowing Morrow and Edard Gouldman two of the 
witnesses thereto it is admitted _______
