Will of Edward Williamson, 1748 - Essex Co. VA In the Name of God Amen. I Edward Williamfon, being Sick and weak but in perfect Sence and memory. Calling to mind that all men must once die, doe think fit to make this my Last Will and Testament in manner & form following. First I bequeath my soul to almighty god that gave it and my body to ye Earth to be buried in a Deasant manner af my Executors Shall think fit, after my Just debts paid funeral Charges, I give and bequeath the Rest of my Eftate as followeth, First I give and bequeath all my Lands to James Webb my Brother in Law to him and his heirs Lawfully begotten of his body to them and their heirs Lawfully begotten for Ever 2ly. tis my will and Defire that all my possanable Efstate Shall be sold at oction to Rafe money to pay my Debts and the over plufh that Shall Remain after my Just Debts paid I give and bequeath it to my brother in Law James Webb to him and his heirs for Ever Lastly tis my will and Defire that James Webb Shall be my Executor of this my Last will and testament Sealed with my Seal and dated this 5th day of Defember 1748 Test Thos. This Last will and Testament of Edward Williamfon Deceased being presented in Court by James Webb the Executor therein named who made oath thereto as ye Law Directs and the same being Duly proved by the Oaths of Thomas Edmondfon & Phillip Kidd two of ye Witnefses thereto Is admitted to Record and is Truly Recorded and on the motion of the said Executor and his performing what the Laws in Such Cases Require a Certificate thereof is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in Due form Test John Lee Cl E Cur Know all Men by these presents, that we James Webb & Thomas Edmondfon are held & firmly bound unto Thomas Waring, Benjamin Winslow, Francis Waring & Samuel Hipkins, Gent. Justices of ye peace for ye County of Efsex in ye sum of fifty pounds Current money to be paid to ye said Justices & their Succefsors. To ye which Payment well & truly to be made, we bind ourselves & every of us, our & Every of our Heirs, Executors, & Administrators, Jointly & Severally, firmly by thefe Presents Sealed with our Seals. Dated this 17th day of January 1748. The Condition of this obligation is Such that if the above bound James Webb Executor of the last Will & Testament of Edward Williamson deceased, do make a true and perfect inventory of all the goods chattles and credits of the said deceased, and the same so made do exhibit into ye County Court of Essex at such time as he shall be thereunto required by the said Court and the same goods chattles and credits shall administer according to Law & further do make a true & just account of his actings and doings therein when thereto required by the said Court, And also shalll well & truly pay & deliver all ye Legacies contained & specified in ye said Testament as far as the said goods chattles & credits will thereunto extend & the Law shall charge, Then this obligation to be void & of none effect or else to remain in full force & virtue James (his mark) Webb Thos: Edmondson Phillip Kidd At a Court held for Essex County at Tappa: on the 17th day of January Anno Dom: 1748 James Webb, Thomas Edmondson and Phillip Kidd acknowledged this Bond to be their act and deed which was ordered to be recorded and is truly recorded Test John Lee, Cl E.
