FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Bethel Baptist Church: 1936 Feb. 25 Research made by Haywood Cleveland McMullan Mrs. Iden says this church, Bethel Baptist, was used as a Hospital and her farm was a camping ground for the Federal Army. Her mother boarded 4 officers and she remembers an argument at a table between the officers. One of them said if he had the nerve Mosby had he could whip the whole Confederate Army. She could remember only 2 names, one was Capt. Bean and the other was McRae who was killed at Dranesville and his pants were brought to their house and they were full of bullet holes. Mrs. Iden has lived here on this farm for 76 years and her Mother and Father owned it before her when it was owned by Temple and Sarah Smith. Laurence Leigh has their old Bible which dates back to 1790. He is located at Browers Chapel. There is an old graveyard to the right of this church with inscriptions: Jacob I.
