Church, south of Dranesville: 1936 Feb. 19 Research made by Haywood Cleveland McMullan M. E. Church South at Dranesville, Va. was erected in 1852. During the War it was used as horse stable and Hospital by the Yankees. After the War it was known as Liberty Church and was finally taken over by the Methodists. About 4 months ago (1935) this church was reimbursed by Federal Govt. $1,000.00 for damage done during the War. This land where the church stands and graveyard also was donated by James Coleman, who was buried there Jan. 23, 1861. Other old graves are: Jane Farr Born Mar 5th 1790 Died April 9, 1856 N. Borden age 27 years Died Dec. 24th 1844 William Latimer in the 65 year of his life June 4th 1832 John Davidson Sacred to the memory of Hannah Departed this life June 22nd 1854 Samuel Holiday Born Nov 10th 1794 Died Nov 11th 1857 William Barker Born July 10th 1789 Died Dec. 27th 1863 Sacred to the memory of James J. Pendergast Kershaws 2nd So Cs Val Longstreets Corp. A.W. Va. Born at Savannah Ga. Aug. 14th 1839 Died in Dranesville Va.
