Miscellaneous Land Records - Fairfax Co., VA In a Book titled "Fairfax County Land Records of Long Standing, 1742-1770" in a suit between John West and Elizabeth Yerby in 1771, as part of the materials introduced at the trial is the Will of William Keene of Northumberland County, made the 15th day of October 1631 and recorded 20 May 1635. In his Will William mentioned his Wife, Elizabeth, whom he named his Executrix, and his Children as William John, Elizabeth, Sarah and Hannah. In a Deed dated 26 March 1689, Sarah and Elizabeth sell their land to John Jadwin In another Deed intro-duced in this suit, it appears that Elizabeth, Dau of William has married one Samuel Samford. In another Deposition introduced in the suit one Newton Keene dated 18 October 1769 says he is heir at law of John Woodbridge, Esqr. on the side of his Mother, Sarah, who was Sister of the whole blood to William Keen, which William was his Grandfather. Indenture 18th April 1745 between Richard Simpson of Truro Parish in County of Faifax and Richard Simpson, Junr. and Mary his Wife, Son of Richard Simpson; Indenture 18th day of April 1745 between Richard Simpson of Truro Parish in Fairfax County and Thomas Winsor and Sarah his Wife, Daughter of Richard Simpson, and John Winsor and Thomas Winsor, Sons of said Thomas and Sarah of same County; Indenture 7th day of August 1745 between Joseph Hollingsworth of Fairfax County and Martha his Wife, and William Ferrall of Christiana Hundred in New Castle Indenture 20th August 1746 between William Cox of Mill Creek Hundred in County of New Castle on Delaware, Yeoman and Catherine his Wife and Harman Cox of Fairfax County, Yeoman, one of the sons of William and Catherine. William PIERCE of Westmoreland Co conveyed to Mary CLARK of said County in fee after whose death the 702 acres came tothe three surviving Daus of Mary CLARK, one of which Daus. Mary HOLMES, the residue to his Son, John HOLMES but the Children died before coming of age to his Brother in Law, John HEDGES, upon whose deceased descended to Robert HEDGES the Eldest Son; Trust to ANN MOOLEY, Margaret MOOLEY and Mary MOOLEY, the Daus. of William MOOLEY, late of Port Royal in the land of Jamaica; Mary intermarried with Alexander Maccarty From Fairfax County Deed Book T., 1790-1792, pp. 40-44. Whereas by an Act of Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia entitled, "An Act to Enable David Stuart to Reconvey a Tract of Land Purchased by John Parke Custis to Robert Alexander," it is declared that any Agreement or Contract which David Stuart by and with the consent of George Washington, Esqr. shall make or enter into respecting the surrendering the lands of Robert Alexander shall be taken to be valued to all intents and purposes, And whereas an Agreement hath been entered into accordingly between said Stuart and Robert Alexander in the words following, vizt., Articles of Agreement made and entered into this ninth day of February 1790 between Robert Alexander of Fairfax County of one part and David Stuart of same County of otherpart, Witnesseth that whereas John Parke Custis in his lifetime purchased of Robert Alexander two tracts of land in County of Fairfax, one of them lying on River Potowmack being the tract of land whereon David Stuart now lives, the other lying between the lines commonly called North and North Six, supposed to contain two or three hundred acres, for securing the purchase money of first mentioned tract, John Parke Custis made and executed a Mortgage thereof to Robert Alexander and for payment of the last mentioned tract gave his Bond to Robert Alexander respecting which Mortgatge a suit is now de-pending in the High Court of Chancery, and David Stuart being authorized by Act of Assembly to compromise all disputes with Robert Alexander relative to the Mortgage and purchase of said lands with the Consent and approbation of George Washington, Esqr., President of the United State, &c. &c. ------------------------------------------------------ For Virginia Researchers.
