The said O'Conner was wounded and became ___ on the field of battle at Brandywine on the 11th of Sept. in the above year --and he was ex?changed -not what period he was disharged from-the wounds I know not -but I well know that he was a brave and faithfull soldier and is properly entitled to the rewards of service of his country. Signed: James Innes Richmond July 30 1786. The bearer Timothy O'Conner is being rendered unfit for any further service by reason he received wounds in the Battle of Brandywine on Sept. 11 1777, is hereby discharged and is recommended to the state for such pension as they may have made for this maimed soldier. Given under my hand at Camp Sm--- Close? the 27th July 1779 Signed: Wm. Woodford Brig. Gen'l ***Ball entered through left ankle, broke through the joint and distorted all motion; joint was enlarged, the bone shattered and many pieces had to be taken out. O'Conner was a tradesman; the injury disabled him from hard labour, according to W. Foushes Surg. (document in small writing, hard to read) Certified by Patrick Henry to be put on the list: O'Conner was granted 8 pounds yearly--aged about 30 years of age and was a private: upon appeal of insufficient pension to meet his need, his pension was upgraded to 12 pounds yearly by Beverley Randolph, Governor in 1789.
