He was preceded in death by parents Jennings B. and Gertrude Tate; and sisters, Sylvia C. Tate and Jenneth T. Sykes. He is survived by wife of 43 years, Betty Roller Tate; brother, Joseph H. (Mary) Tate of Clintwood; aunts, Marie Tate and Lola T. Ford of Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member and a deacon of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Lebanon, Tenn. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, also a member of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge 98 F & AM. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for 40 years. He retired in 1989 after working for the State of Virginia in the Department of ABC as district supervisor assigned in Alexandria, VA. Remains are at Partlow Funeral Home, Lebanon, Tenn., with visitation Tuesday 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 -8 p.m. with Masonic rites 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The body will be taken to the church 5 p.m. Wednesday with services at 7 p.m. with Brother Steve Delashmit officiating. Eulogy will be by Bill Berry, music by Faith Trio. There will be Masonic Rites. Pallbearers: Dave Harvey, Paul Saunders, Anthony Maxwell, Jerry Snodgrass, Jim Chumbler and Dwight Huddleston. Honorary pallbearers: elders and deacons of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
