FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA - WILLS - Samuel Canterbury, 7 Mar 1762 ----¤¤¤---- In the name of God Amen I Samuel Canterbury being at this time by the blessing of God in good health and sound mind make the following disposal of my worldly estate with which God has blessed me after my just debts and funeral expenses are paid. Items I give and bequeath unto my nephew John Bryan at the time he shall arrive at the age of twenty one years complete one horse bridal and sadel of the value of six pounds current money and six pounds current money. Items my further desire is that all the land that I shall die possessed of should equally be divided into three parts. Then I will one third part of my land to my niece Mary An Hill daughter of John Canterbury. Items then I will and bequeath the other two thirds of my land to my beloved wife Mary the first choice to be at the free absolute disposal of my said wife forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my wife Mary one negro girl named Eleanor to be at the free absolute disposal of my said wife forever. Items my further desire is that all the rest of my estate should be equally divided into three parts then I will one third to my niece Mary An Hill daughter of John Canterbury. Items then I will and bequeath the other two parts to my beloved wife Mary to be at the free absolute disposal of my said wife forever and this I declare and publish to be my last will and testament evoking and disannulling all former and other wills and testaments by me heretofore made and do make plain constitute and appoint my beloved wife Mary and Mary An Hill Executors of this my last Will and Testament signed with my hand and sealed with my seal this 7th day of March in the year of our Lord God 1762.
