Henry Moffett, one of the original members of the family from Scotland, was born in 1705. He located in the beautiful valley of Carter's Run, in Fauquier County, Va. He was the father of Rev. Anderson Moffett, a pioneer Baptist divine of great local note. Rev. Anderson Moffett was imprisoned and persecuted during the Revolutionary War because of his belief and strong religious influence. Henry Moffett had one other son name Daniel. He died in Fauquier. Henry Moffett was accopanied to this country by three brothers -- Daniel, Jesse and John. Henry Moffett was twice married -- first to Mary Anderson and afterward to her sister, Elizabeth Anderson. One of the descendants of Rev. Anderson Moffett married a Bryan.
