Foster Cemetery Location: On Gordonsdale Farm, about five hundred yards south of house, 1.8 miles south of Plains, Virginia, Route #15, thence ¼ mile on private road. Fauquier County Sacred to the Memory of Mrs. Eliza H. Scott daughter of Prof. Thomas Gordon of old Aberdeen, Scotland and relict of Reverend John Scott died 1802, aged 52 years. Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord- Yea, saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labours, and their works do follow them. Annie Lee Peyton wife of Robert Eden Peyton of Gordonsdale and daughter of Gen. Walter Jones and wife, Ann Lucinda Born in Washington April 5, 1812 Died at Yelverton March 21, 1905 Her pure and beautiful life was spent in deeds of loving service to God and Man. Sacred to the Memory of Margaret C. Peyton youngest daughter of Eliza Scott and Dr. C. Peyton Born September 11, 1839 Died July 22, 1884 Sacred to the Memory of D. C. Peyton O.B. June 16, 1827 Aged 53 years. He was the orphan’s and the poor man’s Friend. In Memory of Margaret Glassell Daughter of Rev. John Scott who died in faith, October 11, 1843 Not having received the promise, but having seen Him from afar, she was persuaded, and embraced him and confessed that she was a stranger and a pilgrim on the earth. Peyton Born February 9, 18__ Died July 5, 1872 HE walked with God and was not, for god took him Henry Peyton 1744 – 1814 and wife, Susanna Fowke Sacred to the Memory of Richard H. Peyton Smith nephew and adopted son of Margaret C. Peyton Born February 8, 1840 Died October 18, 1855 To the memory of Mrs. Eliza C. Peyton relict of Dr. Chandler Peyton and oldest daughter of Rev. John Scott She departed this life May 9, 1842 She was possessed by nature, with a remarkable share of meekness gentleness, and cheerfulness, and of a disposition most kind and affectionate. At an early age, she embraced the Christian religion, which proved a sup- port to her through life, but most especially the comfort and stay of her declining years and her sure HOPE in death. Here lies the mortal remains of Captain Richard H. Peyton late of the U.S. Army He was born in Fauquier County, Virginia and died in Tampa Florida on the 11th of November 1839, of the fever of the climate whilst actively engaged in the service of his county. aged 28 years He said to his attending physician: “I trust in the infinite goodness and mercy of God, and of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” This stone is erected to his memory by an affectionate Mother and Brother.
