Cemetery Location:  5.8 miles northwest of Warrenton, Va., on the south side of 
                    Route #691.
                    Fauquier County



I cannot find anything of especial historical interest except that “Granville 
Farm” was the old home of one branch of the very well known Payne family, and it 
is certainly worth recording on account of the graveyard.

Not far from the farm house, perhaps 500 yards to the rear, and o’er shadowed by 
the most majestic oak tree, is the old Payne graveyard.  Periwinkle covers most 
of the graves, while several very old box trees are scattered throughout.  A 
crumbling stone wall surrounds it.

Here we find the following inscriptions:

Robert T.H. Payne
Born 1811 – Died 1814


And these are old flat stones, bearing the following inscriptions:
