Virginia Volunteers Pickett’s Brigade, Longstreet’s Division Born Fauquier County Wounded at Williamsburg, May 5, 1862 Died at Fort Monroe, Sept. 22, 1862 This perpetuates the memory of one true to the instincts of his birth - - faithful to the teachings of his fathers - - constant in love of his state, he died in the performance of what he believed to be his duty, and let his virtues plead for a just judgement of the cause in which he perished. He lies buried in the U.S. cemetery at Ft. Monroe. Lieutenant James Kinchloe, Co. C, 49th Reg. Virginia Volunteers Pegram’s Brigade, Ramseur’s Division, Early’s Corps Born In Fauquier Co., March 13, 1836 Killed at Smithfield, West Virginia, Aug. 29, 1864 He lies buried in the old burying ground in the village of Smithfield, West Va. (Same inscription as for Wickliffe) This perpetuates the home of Julius Kinchloe He lies buried in the cemetery at Booth Bay, Maine Born in Virginia, Jan. 28, 1867(?)
