Fauquier County Marriage Bonds
Know all men by these presents that we Thomas Conway & Nicholas George are held 
and firmly bound unto his Excellency Patrick Henry Governor of the commonwealth 
of Virginia in the sum of fifty pounds current money to which paiment well and 
truly to be made to the said Patrick Henry and his successors we bind ourselves 
our heirs Executors and Adminstrators jointly and severally by these presents 
Sealed with our seals and dated this 22nd day of June 1778.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage 
shortly intended to be solomnized between the above bound Thomas Conway and 
Lydia George for which a license has been issued. Now if there be no lawful 
cause to obstruct the said marriage then the above obligation to be void or else 
to remain in full force
