CRAIG, Fauquier Co., VA, Will Book 28, p. 197-8. I, Alexander S. Craig of the County to Fauquier and State of Virginia do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows. It is my will and desire that all the Estate of which I may die Seized and possessed or to which I may have any right, whether such Estate be real, personal or mixed-land, Slaves, or personal property of any kind, and every kind whatsoever-shall be divided into three equal parts: One equal third part, I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Sayres, wife of Campbell Sayres, and to her heirs forever. One other equal third part, I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane Spilman wife of John Spilman, and to her heirs forever. And the remaining third part I give and bequeath to my friends John A. Spilman and William A Harris in trust for my Son John A. Craig, and for the following uses and purposes, namely—first my Executors here in after named, shall out of the equal third part of my estate devised in trust for my Son John, pay to William H. Harris, or his assigns, a certain sum of money, with legal interest, which he the Said John A. Craig collected in the State of Louisiana for my deceased Sister Elizabeth Johnson being a part of the distributive share of her the said Elizabeth Johnson in the Estate of our deceased brother John Craig, and which he my Said Son John A. Craig failed to pay over to my Said Sister Elizabeth Johnson in her life time, or to her only heir and distributee, the said William H. Harris since her death. The remainder of the one equal third part of my estate after paying the aforesaid debt of my Son John to the said William A. Harris, shall be held in trust by the said John A. Spilman and William A. Harris for the use and benefit of my Said Son John and his heirs as aforesaid. The precise Sum so collected by my Son John A. Craig, and which he failed to pay over to my Sister Elizabeth Johnson deceased is to be ascertained to the Satisfaction of my Executors herein after named. I do hereby nominate and appoint my friends John A. Spilman and William A. Harris, the Executors of this my last will and testament, and revoking and annulling all other wills, testaments, and codicils by me heretofore made. I hereby make and publish this as my only true last will and testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto Subscribed my name and affixed my Seal, this 9th day of February A.D. 1856.
