Peters Cemetery Location: About 5 miles north of Floyd, Virginia. Follow Route #8 about 2 miles from town, cross West Fork of Little Ricer, follow road 3 miles northwest. The cemetery is located on a hill north of the road. Floyd County DATE: 1840, date of oldest grave. OWNERS: The first or original owner of the land was Moses Dickerson, Sr. He got the land from the government. On May 29, 1832, he sold the tract of 1888 acres to Moses Dickerson. Recorded in Deed Book A page 75. On January 30, 1869, Moses Dickerson and Elizabeth his wife, deeded this land to Coffee Dickerson. Recorded in Deed Book L, page 617. By deed dated December 20, 1898, Coffee Dickerson deeded this to Catherine, his wife, and his children, Rhoda, Malina, Elizabeth, Cornelius, Peter, Walter and Posey. Recorded in Deed Book 2, page 397. It is now in their possession. (1937) DESCRIPTION: This cemetery is surrounded by pine trees and located on a hill. It is enclosed by a white panelled fence, the lot being about one hundred by two hundred feet. Dickerson Born June 5, 1890 Died Nov. 25, 1890 One stone was so old and blurred, all could be read was the date “1840”.
