Members of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church - Floyd Co. VA The New Hope Primitive Baptist Church actually started in Floyd County in the 1780's. It moved to Carroll County and first was established somewere on the waters of Greasy Creek.. Later it moved on the Byrd Branscome place. There were two locations there. The first was an old log church that burned. After the 1874 fire it was built on it's present site on the waters of Big Reed Island Creek at Big Bridge. The first services were held on October 10, 1874. In 1871 an arm was granted to constitute a church at Burks Fork (Little Flock) "We the undersigning members of the Baptist Church of Christ and beleaving to New Hope Church in New River District are desirous of beig constited in to a church at Burks Fork in Floyd County, Virginia on count of i being much more conveinet then our old Mother Church."
